Sorry, three comments disappeared when I fixed the misnamed author attribute on this post.
Posted by: apostropher at August 3, 2008 10:02 AMThis actually makes an incredibly good template for blog posts in general. Fill in with new links as needed.
Also, I was really hoping that Amy Chozick would turn out to have sockpuppetted the one Yahoo yahoo who responded to her post in the manner desired.
Posted by: Brodysattva at August 3, 2008 10:29 AMI wonder if wonderful Lefty columnists like Glen Greenwald will continue to write so eloquently against this horrible fascism on the march when Obama gets elected. Clearly Obama isn't too interested in putting a big stop to it--he voted in the yea for the Telecom Big Brother bill.
Posted by: Jon at August 3, 2008 05:06 PM'Sorry, three comments disappeared....', mmmmm. I probably was a little pointed anyway. On another note, Glenn Greenwald, as well as being a scalpel-sharp analyst and writer, is ethical beyond reproach; any aspersion to the contrary is wingnut slime.
Posted by: waldo at August 3, 2008 08:00 PMThe extra bonus dumbness about the Obama-is-too-fat-to-win article is that we elected George W twice, and he is famously athletic and fit. I recall numerous articles marveling at the rigor of his workout regime and how quickly he can run a mile, or whatever. I'm not an Obama fan, but that article was just silly.
Also, that police state post is scary. Call me a naive optimist, but I predict the we-can-seize-your-laptops-and-shit rule is too crazy to last, and will be changed within a year by new legislation as more people get outraged.
Posted by: Gaijin Biker at August 3, 2008 09:23 PMho ho. Nothing personal against Mr. Greenwald; i love everything he writes--it's all brilliant.
Am just remarking about the human condition in general to "root for the team." When Bill Clinton started doing a few jackbooted things (i.e., the Waco massacre, bombing Serbia), many good liberals were no where to be found. The right wing was all over him on such things. Now that W and the Cheney Cabal are in power, the right wing who used to give Clinton grief are rolling over and peeing themselves in front of Bush; they are now the Reich Wing.
I don't think Glenn Greenwald will lose his integrity when Obama inevitably disappoints us all; but it is possible that he will tone it down. Sure hope not.

Obama will succeed at redeeming America.

Call me an elitist, but I'd prefer to reserve that office for people who have attended law school.
Posted by: apostropher at August 4, 2008 02:19 AMWell, OK, consider me enlightened. I'd still prefer Dennis to Alberto. Or Ashcroft.
Posted by: waldo at August 4, 2008 05:27 AMI'd prefer any Dennis, whether Menace, Hopper or Eckersley, to any Bush Republican AG.
I'll admit to being temporarily (and naïvely) swayed by former federal Judge Mukasey's lip service to independence and integrity. It's amazing how quickly he donned the knee pads.
Posted by: shpx.ohfu at August 4, 2008 04:36 PM9: TT, I've been glued to a few things with work and family, and focused, and most ashamedly have been avoiding almost all pleasure reading, such as the great Glenn Greenwald. So thanks for that update, it's good to know.
Posted by: Jon at August 4, 2008 11:19 PM5: Okay, GB, you are a naive optimist.
That's certainly the nicest thing I've called any neocon in a long time.
