That bike may look silly, but it actually makes it very easy to do wheelies.
Also, I'm surprised you haven't picked up on the true danger of Bush's tax rebates: They cause arm deformities.

Heh. I had put "Wheelie!" for the alternate text on the photo. Also, I think it looks great.
Posted by: apostropher at May 12, 2008 08:23 AMOh yeah.
Being that I still have college bills to pay (not mine, my kids) I do not have a motorcycle but I did buy a Yamaha Zuma scooter awhile back. It gets great gas mileage and even with the top speed of 40 MPH (or a little faster with a tailwind going downhill) it sort of feels like a motorcycle when you ride it.
BUT - that illusion is sadly completely shattered if I catch sight of myself in a store window or something like that.
One simply can not appear cool on the thing. Even with Lizzie McGuire riding on the back around Rome it still looks like a dorky delivery bike.
This was used to great comic affect in the movie "Dodgeball." I rest my case.
If this uni-wheelie-mobile went 40 I'd consider it, assuming it takes no special skill to ride it.
Posted by: Tripp at May 12, 2008 10:40 AMIf by "awesome" you mean "completely ridiculous," yes.
Posted by: bitchphd at May 12, 2008 11:57 AMYou mean "completely ridiculous" in the sense of "awesome"?
Posted by: Clownęsthesiologist at May 12, 2008 01:06 PMI think she meant "ridiculous" in the sense of "teh awesome."
For example pink unicorns while ridiculous are also teh awesome.
As a somewhat theatre goer I've had to come up with a number of double-meaning words for someone's performance: "Incredible, unbelievable, and amazing" are a few that work well.
Posted by: Tripp at May 12, 2008 02:58 PMHey, neat!
Balancing technology like this turns out to be reasonably easy to implement; the KILLER ROBOT I'm working on currently will balance on two wheels as well. It is damned hard, however, to get much speed, as you're basically relying on the wheels to compensate for the balance offset created by leaning forwards.
