Damn but that was the most motivated 20 minutes of basketball I've seen in some time. As I explained to a friend recently: I love to see me some Duke lose almost as much as I love see me some Carolina win. Yes. I'm that shallow.
In tournament time there are no two more valuable advantages than (1) being in shape so as to not get tired, and (2) hitting your fucking free throws.
I went 30-2 in my bracket 1st round with 2 guaranteed misses for the second (Vandy over 'Nova and UConn over WKU... wtf?)
I love March.
Well, Pittsburgh losing officially kills my bracket.
Posted by: apostropher at March 22, 2008 11:43 PMYeah, that plus picking Purdue to upset Xavier makes my second round much less prophetic. Four off so far and still half the round to play.
Posted by: froz gobo at March 23, 2008 12:02 AMBarack Obama and I picked the same Elite 8 and Final Four. And he's got the Heels taking it!
Posted by: apostropher at March 23, 2008 01:12 AMI don't see why Pitt was so highly regarded to start with. Same for UConn. Is it some kind of East Coast thing?
My bracket went bad fast, since I had no clue about the Mid Majors and just went with seeds. The whole lot of them seem to have been overrated.
It now looks good for UNC in the East. Maybe if Tenn gets hot. (When we played them, they were not hitting, but I guess they can be pretty good.)
My Texas Longhorns got the bracket they wanted. Miami-Stanford-Memphis looks very doable if we keep playing well. I'd love another shot at Kansas .
Posted by: caradoc at March 23, 2008 01:20 AMWell, I love to see UCLA lose as much as I love seeing UK win (even though we have gotten two NCAA Championships since they got their last one, we are still second to them in those things). But love seeing the other Kentucky school that I paid tuition to advance (go 'Toppers). I have a deal with a friend who went to Texas, if they beat UCLA, I will get him a fitted UT cap (yes I am that shallow)...
