Just in case you hadn't realized...

John McCain hasn't got a goddamned clue about the Middle East.

A few moments later, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, standing just behind McCain, stepped forward and whispered in the presidential candidate's ear. McCain then said: "I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not al-Qaeda."

"Machinists? Why the hell would they be training machinists, Joe? What? Oh."

Extremists, Al-Queda. What's the difference whippersnapper? Now, drop down and give me 10!

The image of Lieberman standing up there behind the dais gently correcting McCain just makes me retch. OTOH McCain's "Oops sorry, I meant 'extremists'" is pretty funny. In a bleak kind of way. I'm thinking "This ought to be the end of his candidacy" but I somehow know it won't be anything of the sort.

Then you probably don't want to know that Lieberman was gently resting his hand on McCain's ass while all this was going on.

Never before have I realized the tenuous line between ventriloquism and truly disturbing, geriatric homo-eroticism until now. Of all things I could have imagined, I really didn't think this election cycle would define that for me.

Really? My election checklist reads:

*Healthcare
*Iraq
*The tenuous line between ventriloquism and truly disturbing, geriatric homo-eroticism
*Supreme court picks
*The economy

Oh, and I'm also curious to see if the potential presidential candidates have the Wildcats defeating Gonzaga.

'...the Republicans have chosen a deranged fossil who wants everyone to die in eternal war, doesn't understand or care about the economy or healthcare, and can't tell his pruny old ass from Iran or Al Qaeda. Oh, and who for utterly cynical political reasons cavorts with religious maniacs who hate gays and Catholics and are openly cheering for the end of the world." -Atrios

The Haggard-like religious/gay hatred connection does open the possibility of some funny business between McBain and LEIBERman...

McCain is Bush on Steroids, and, probably, has a more advanced stage of Alzheimer's.

So, naturally, McCain scares the crap out of me. It makes me want to buy another truckload of canned goods and duck tape the windows.

I'd say that I'd move overseas if McCain wins the presidency, but then McCain might bomb where ever I am.
