The 80s are back.

Fiji government overthrown by Bananarama!

From the looks of their website—which still hasn't posted the news of their smashing victory—they seemed to have lost one of the original members, but I'm not convinced the new singer is going to fit in with the group's overall image.

I am hoping Banana Republic can get some kind of synergistic merchandising tie-in going.

It's going to be a cruel summer under his iron fist.

You know Bananarama lyrics read very much like the songs in Pynchon's novels.

Just to be clear, Apostropher, are you saying that you heard a rumor?

You know what's weird about Bananarama? Three vocalists and nobody sings harmony.

Huh. I always figured Kajagoogoo was too shy to do something like that.

There are alot of ironies in that coup - throwing over elected leaders to save democracy. But in ethnically divided Fiji, where economically upward-working ethnic Indians are upstaging the native Fijians, Bananarama may have a point. See Amy Chua's book.
