Things to see.

A beautiful car commercial that never shows the car. (via)

Warning signs of the future.

I don't condone vigilante violence, but this video of Fred Phelps' little piggies running for their lives after picketing a soldier's funeral just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Margi Geerlink's photos are creepy and very cool. Page through them all.

Aw, man, I was hoping for the crowd to flip the van over and go to work. (Not that I condone vigilante violence either, of course.)

Margi Geerlink: I know it's Art and all, but I'm not digging the kiddie porn vibe.

I find nothing objectionable about that vigilante violence whatsoever. I realize that opens some scary doors a crack, but what it boils down to is that some people deserve to have the living shit knocked out of them by an angry mob. Quite objectively, Fred Phelp's family falls in to that category. Sad. But true.

I don't know your stance on the death penalty, froz, but I for one certainly believe there are some actions that make the perpetrator deserving of death (or torture, for that matter).

I don't support the death penalty, however, because we're never going to be able to come up with a way to administer it justly.

If inerrant divine lightning bolts came out of the sky and struck dead only the deserving, and kicked the living shit out of Phelps and other people who deserved that treatment, I'd say "right on!"

But to have such punishments carried out by humans, much less human mobs? No thanks. I don't sanction torture carried out by my government, nor by any of its citizens.

Which is not to deny that I was cheering for the crowd in that video. It's just to say, you know, that it's a guilty pleasure, and not something to be encouraged or condoned.

I will now ascend to heaven in all my earnest righteousness. I'll post the photos on Flickr.

Call me a wet blanket, but I fail to see what there is to admire in the creepy photos.

I also think the fans of mob violence need to reflect a little bit more - there is nothing to admire or cheer here. Perhaps only an interesting question - why is the police enabling Phelps by giving him protection? It only further enables him and in effect makes the police hostage to his agenda. The police should be involved in restoring order, not trying to forestall all disturbances of the peace.
