Bad dog! Bad dog!

Posted by apostropher

Now that's a crappy day.

A 21-year-old Vallejo woman was mauled by her pet pit bull Tuesday, and authorities responding to the emergency discovered about 100 marijuana plants inside her home, police said. The woman, who was not identified, was flown by air ambulance to a hospital after receiving bites on her legs and arms and losing a large amount of blood. She underwent surgery and was listed in serious condition, police Lt. Kevin Kelly said.

The dog attacked the woman shortly before noon as the woman was trying to feed it in the backyard of her home on the 5300 block of Chenin Blanc Place, Kelly said. Police arrived at the residence and found the marijuana plants as they searched the house for the dog. The plants have an estimated street value of about $400,000, Kelly said. It was unclear whether the woman will face charges for having marijuana plants.

A hundred-plant operation and it's "unclear" whether charges will be filed? She sure isn't living in North Carolina. (via)

Maybe she was holding them for a friend-

Don't they estimate "street value" by some loopy formula that estimates the maximum retail value of the maximum eventual harvest? Cause nobody is paying $4,000 for a marijuna plant....

In Canada it seems that the value assigned to marijuana plants is $1000 each.

I would love to know how they figure this formula out as well.

I'm guessing the old "my dog craps marijuana plants" defense probably won't work.

Obviously, the woman was growing the marijuana for medicinal purposes, in the expectation that she would one day be painfully mauled by her pit bull.

This is all the government's fault. If it didn't outlaw marijuana, then the Vallejo woman would not have needed a pit bull to help protect her illegal crop. Instead she probably would have had a poodle, shitzu, mini-dachs or Pomeranian.

Now the government will probably take her home, leave her on welfare and pass the bill to us. Your friendly government strikes again!

"Unclear" because searching for a bad dog might not be probable cause.

Street value is a very inflated way of valuing the plants. IIRC, they figure how much pot each plant is going to produce, then they figure maximum sales, based on selling it off in $20 baggies, the smallest, least economical way of buying it.

When Rottweilers get the munchies, they mean it.
