Slouching toward singularity.

Gaijin Biker, in the comments to a post below, linked to a really excellent Flash presentation on imagining the ten dimensions. Go check it out.

Thanks. To give credit where it's due, I found it on kottke.org a while back.

A good illustration. However, some of the higher dimensions may be unnecessary -- e.g. what if no Big Bang, or what if BB is fully deterministic and no other possibilities exist? I'm tempted to buy the book, but I can't help observing that the website has a disturbing number of 'metaphysical' topics in the discussion groups.

It is nicely produced; but I'm not finding the content that convincing. What I want help with is imagining extra spatial dimensions, not ideas for interesting ways to create temporal and probabilistic dimensional metaphors. All their dimensions after 3 are metaphorical.

I am now convinced that the physicists who dream up this stuff are all completely stoned on 5-dimensional turboweed.

Mind you, I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

I would, however, be interested procuring a sample for myself. For research purposes, of course.

Try ketamine.

Such exotic potions are not for mine.

Guess you don't really want that visualization help so badly, then.

Ketamine's a good drug, but it's not for mine

Going back to Marihuana, where I can get a good buzz all the time

If you get good at it, you can enter the Spatial Olympics.

M/tch, the Fifth Dimension is not a nightmare, and could even be responsible for putting Hair on the chests of all those who oppose wars that seem to benefit primarily politicians and the "defense" establishment.

And as you ponder other dimensions, it may comfort you to remember that the strings of this garden universe vibrate complete - some, we get a sound so sweet! To name the chord is important to some, so they it give a word, and the word is - "Sphynx".

Well, actually, some are worried that the Sphinx has started to move its slow thighs, and is stirring up indignant desert birds. So maybe things are not so sweet after all.

TT, did you just take Apo's advice about ketamine?

BB: Nope, though it took me a little research to figure out what he meant. I absolutely refuse to have my mind expanded, and prefer to mask my narrow views with smokescreeens of squid ink, formed by the meta-arguments that I eject regarding tribal perceptions.

M/tch, your perverted link really bugs me, but I appreciate the effort to clarify.

Actually, I think Apo would understand my reference to the Sphinx, which is homage to the Armageddon fears that haunt him and are manifested in the title of this thread and his post about the falcon. Familar with Yeat's poem, The Second Coming?

Research, huh? Where'd you get your hands on the ketamine?

You misspelled "buggs".

Actually, I think Apo would understand my reference

Yeah, I think apo is pretty understanding of sphinxing. Not to mention Second Coming. That's what the word on the street is, anyway.
