A very young Stevie Wonder flat-out rippin' shit up on Sesame Street. Via b-wo.
TrackBackHoly shit!
Incidentally, I would have liked to have seen Mr. Hooper's reaction to all that.
Posted by: My Alter Ego at June 26, 2006 02:00 PMOh, heck:
A 17-year-old Notorious B.I.G. freestylin' in a rap battle
A who's who of early-90's rap doing a tribute to Arsenio Hall on his last show
Stevie doing a funkdafied Sesame Street song
Who knew Oscar the Grouch was a wicked rhythm guitarist, but it's no shocker that Grover grooves on the congas.
Major props to the drummer - keeping strict time with all those kids shaking maracas, jingle sticks and other assorted noise making crap behind him is impressive, or maybe he just couldn't hear them. Future headbanger on the balcony. Great "Sesame Street" coda.
Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, anyone?
♫ Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street? ♫
Practice, practice, practice.
Posted by: Gaijin Biker at June 27, 2006 03:09 AMPure Genius! Thank you.
I got a You Tube account just so I put it on my blog.
I've always been fond of this funky Cookie Monster Isaac Hayes bit (although it went completely over my head as a kid.)
Cookie Monster, he's a bad motherf- Watch your mouth!
Posted by: Big Ben at June 27, 2006 08:15 AMWho are the musicians playing behind Stevie? They look really familiar, especially the saxophonist and lead guitarist, but I can't tell from where. GB -- I like that funkified Sesame Street video. My daughter got tripped out by the vocoder.
Posted by: Clownæsthesiologist at June 27, 2006 09:14 AMI love rap, and that video's cool, but I've never been a particular fan of B.I.G.
Posted by: M/tch M/lls at June 27, 2006 12:30 PMMe neither, actually... I just like that particular video.
Posted by: GaijinBiker at June 27, 2006 12:33 PMI love rap.
Kick it, Vanilla Ice!
(can't find the unfogged thread that story appeared on; I can find a reference to it, but the comments seem to be all gone)
Posted by: M/tch M/lls at June 27, 2006 12:39 PMIt was the "Like Cymbals, Baby!" thread, which is still there, but with a measly three comments. I guess the rest of the thread did not survive the server move.
That's sad.
Posted by: apostropher at June 27, 2006 12:49 PMIt was probably just all redacted by that fucking Labs.
Posted by: Clownæsthesiologist at June 27, 2006 01:07 PMHuh. Yeah I had found that post, but I get no comments on it, not three.
Posted by: M/tch M/lls at June 27, 2006 01:15 PMHey, that shot that in New York City (where they paint murals of Biggie)...
