Des Moines Register poll of likely Iowa Democratic caucus voters.

Pretty much the first poll anywhere that doesn't have Hillary Clinton in front.

If I were going to vote Democrat, I'd want to vote for Obama or Gore. Sadly, they're not on the list.

I like Obama and Gore too, that the fact that GB finds them palatable makes me like them all the more.

Note too, rather tellingly, this this Des Moines Register poll has Tom Vilsack--the governor of Iowa, which, coincidentally, happens to surround Des Moines entirely--a fairly distant fourth. And I'm fairly sure people in the state know who he is.

Y'know, I like Obama, but so far he's got a couple of good speeches under his belt and not much else. Plus, he's the antichrist. Or something.

Gore would be my first choice, but I'm starting to believe his protestations that he isn't running for president. Edwards was my pick in 2004 and I still believe he'd make a great candidate, who could pick up moderates and independents in large numbers, while holding on to the left side of the party.

I like Edwards too. I would be happy if he were president -- for the others ('cept Feingold), the best I can say is I wouldn't be miserable if one of them were president. (To the best of my knowledge -- I'm not real well acquainted with all the names on the list.)

I like Feingold a great deal. I would also be enthusiastic about a Gore or Edwards campaign.

I generally agree with apo on Obama: I'd like to be able to observe his stands on important issues for a little longer. Based on the little I know about him now, I think he'd make a compelling candidate, but what I know is primarily based on a couple of speeches.

Yeah, I felt the same way about Kerry.
