I don't know who outside the choir that's exactly going to preach too, but it was funny none the less.
Posted by: Hanke at December 5, 2005 11:29 PMThey're both total dicks, but man does David Cross crack me up. Larry the Cable Guy's only funny if you have to watch the other "blue-collar" comedians. Next to Jeff Foxworthy, he's a fucking riot.
Posted by: Jake at December 6, 2005 09:29 PMI have always been a fan of David Cross. I don't even know who Larry the cable guy is but he sounds like a dick.
Posted by: Platosearwax at December 7, 2005 06:02 AMNot only have I always been a fan of David Cross, for several years, he was at the top of my "sexiest man" list.
I just have unusual taste in men, is all. (Top of the list now? Rob Corddry. I guess I like 'em funny and bald.)
Posted by: maurinsky at December 7, 2005 11:02 AMSorry, but this is not related to the topic.
Over the pask few weeks; a small group including myself have been busy creating a website on the truth about terrorism, democracy, dictatorships, human rights, American imperialism etc from the Arab point of view, with a slightly sarcastic twist. I'd be very grateful if you could perhaps have a look at it- there are some good articles we've written which really emphasise the incredible hypocrisy and double-standards of the U.S. political elite in its foreign policy, the injustice of occupation in Palestine and Iraq, as well as a simple 'solution' to solving terrorism which is a must-see. It is not anti-American, nor does it condone or support violence.
Thanks for your time.
Posted by: Sammy B. at December 8, 2005 04:46 AMThey both suck. Larry sucks because his jokes are bad and his gimmick is uncreative and annoying. David Cross sucks because he actually believes all this "I'm so enlightened, all those people are sheep" crap. Preaching should never be given priority over being funny, but he does it all the time. He has been funny, though.
Posted by: Toadmonster at December 8, 2005 04:05 PMAlso, nothing is worse than "look how un-PC I am!"
Posted by: Toadmonster at December 8, 2005 04:11 PMI did find it rather scary that such a blatently racist comic gets to do his act on Comedy Central ever week. I had never cared enough about the program to watch it long enough to figure that out.
Posted by: Hanke at December 10, 2005 12:08 AMi thought the whole LArry the Cable Guy schtick was an act (and it is). So why get all worked up over it? David Cross seems more than willing to throw his hat into what is becoming a Culture War between the annointed purveyors of elitism and the unwashed masses who inhabit the red states between the coasts. David Cross seems to have found a receptive audience to his brand of "Bush is hitler and most Americans are ignorant" comedy but the thing is -- David is a college drop-out. Throwing stones in a glass house and everything. O, the irony! While i don't subscribe to David Cross's political views, i don't subscribe to Larry's either. I find both to be irredeemably un-funny. I find racism as disagreeable as Cross's anti-Catholic, anti-semitic, anti-populist screeds. In 10 years, both "comedians" will be but a footnote or an answer in Trivial Pursuit. Neither is treading new water but re-hashing old sterotypes and helping to widen the divide between Left and Right, conservative and liberal, red and blue. To hell with both of them.
end of rant.
David is a college drop-out. Throwing stones in a glass house
This seems a non sequitur.
