WTF item of the day: "Colombian police have found the bodies of three human foetuses hidden in statues destined for the United States. The discovery was made by officers searching for contraband at Bogota Airport on Tuesday. The corpses were wrapped in plastic and concealed inside statues of Christian icons, which were smashed open."

Personally I think ignorance could be the common cause, although the fact that religion is a refuge of last resort for those down and out probably has something to do with it, too.
Posted by: Tripp at September 30, 2005 10:24 AMAs a friend of mine pointed out in my comments, there are a plethora of other factors to differentiate the US from any number of the countries compared, one of which is poverty. In his opinion, the comparison the guy draws for the study isn't fair because it doesn't take any of those other factors into account. Still, it's fun to tweak the nose of the religious right, isn't it?
