Ruy Teixeira notes that according to US Census estimates, Texas just became the fourth state in the union where minorities form a majority (50.2%), joining California (55.5%), New Mexico (56.6%), and Hawaii (76.7%). Hispanics are the largest minority group in each state except Hawaii, where Asian-Americans make up nearly 60% of the population by themselves. Interestingly, North Carolina has the fastest-growing Hispanic population of any state.

The whitest states, in descending order are Maine, Vermont, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Iowa, and North Dakota, with minority populations ranging from 3.9 to 9%.

No doubt it's just a coincidence that the two first presidential primaries are held in two of the whitest states in the union....

No doubt too the states listed happen to be six of the top ten safest. Strange how that happens.

I wouldn't call it "strange"... I'd call it unfortunate.

I'd call it fact... blacks simply commit more crimes.

I think the reasons behind the statistics are more important. If somebody grows up in an atmosphere of poverty, with a feeling of desperation and hopelessness, then they're gonna resort to crime. At the same time, people's personal decisions to commit crimes only fuel the cycle of broken families and helplessness.

Basically, theres a societal cycle of crime among minorities (that we all have to work together to fix); but at the same time, people can't just blame society. they've gotta work and fight to secure their own future and take care of their families too.
