apostropher, you have to try putting in a Triangle zip code and searching for "brothel." I turned up, among other things, USA Baseball (yes, the US Olympic baseball people - hot, but so cookie-cutter!) and the NC State elections board. HAW HAW HAW!

Putting in a raleigh zip and asking for "whorehouse" gives you the Duke University Ticket Office and the City of Raleigh.

Buwahhhahhahaha

God, this is like magic. Putting in 27707 and "gaping wound," I get:
1. Jordan High School
2. The Sheraton
3. Pet Paradise
4. Michael Law, MD
and
5. The NCSU Unitarian Universalists.

The same zip and "hot gay sex" includes The John Locke Foundation,The United Church of Chapel Hill, the NC Baptist Foundation, Franklin St. Pizza & Pasta, the Duke University News Service, Local 506, and the Institute for Southern Studies.

That last search seems about right. /* ducking thrown objects */

This is totally off-topic, but I saw this and thought of you, apo, seeing as you're one of the few people I "know" who live in NC: Ag-biotech industry seeks to prohibit local regulations in NC

I don't know if it's an issue you're interested in or not, but thought I'd just send it along. I also don't know anything about the Dogwood Alliance, although this definitely makes me view them with ambivalence. I for one feel that it's a very worthy cause for a tree to die for. If we tell the pagans something about the spirit of the wood nymph living on in the catalogue or something, maybe we can split some of them off from the coalition. Divide and conquer and all.

(via Bitter Greens Journal, put out by an old college friend of mine who is now, of all things, a farmer in North Carolina.)

Oh wow. And the Durham School of the Arts is listed as just a plain ol' whorehouse. Along with The Bookshop, Inc.

And Pepper's Pizza is a crackhouse. Who knew?

In New York, it also lists WBAI, a decidedly leftist public radio station and home of the fantastic "Democracy Now!", as a brothel.  Tends to undercut Unruh's claims of persecution, methinks.

In my hood (east side of Los Angeles) we have the following, hot, sweaty brothels: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (okay, granted), the International Documentary Association (hey, they have to make money somehow), The International Church of Scientology (again, granted), The Simon Wiesenthal Center & Museum (maybe they meant Brit Milah? Blintz Hall?) and, my favorite, a store actually called "Brothel" which apparently sells hip-hop-inspired clothing.

I am just so disappointed. The closest whorehouse to me is about 100 miles away, and the closest crackhouse has to be 200 miles away.

Chicago Brothels: a number of theaters including Paramount Arts Center Box Office, Apple Tree Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Most entertaining was the Morton Grove Public Library, and a violin repair shop/music instrument retailer.

Crackhouses include Red Roof Inns, a number of ministries (including secular Franciscans), the Insititute of Puerto Rican Art and Culture, Dupage River Animal Hospital and the American Bar Assn.

This is too much fun.

I have to assume google uses keywords from the business home pages, so I'd really like to know what keywords are triggering the naughty references.
