Lynch mob

Posted by apostropher

While the neo-cons begin putting on their facepaint and pounding the war drums against Syria for the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri, Jim Henley gently points out that we actually don't have the first idea who killed Rafiq Hariri and that, further, the assassination was in no way good news for Syria. Hmm.

Don't you know about Hama rules??? If you actually "studied" the "history" of the "region", you'd realize the obvious truth that Syria - in the strategically untenable position of being a) almost completely surrounded by either hostile governments or their occupying troops, 2) a major focus of building global momentum in favor of proactive anti-terrorist regime change strategy, and d) faced with a military power imbalance that makes France's position in 1939 seem enviably secure by comparison - would be eager to take any and all steps necessary to provoke the ire of its bitterest enemy and that nation's guardian state, chief beater of the aforementioned drums.

Silly moonbat, foreign policy is for grown-ups.
