I'll take a triple Venti no-whip Alabama slammer, please.

Starbucks Corp. Thursday launched its first alcoholic drink, a coffee liqueur. Starbucks Coffee Liqueur, made in collaboration with Jim Beam Brands Co., will be sold in restaurants, bars, and liquor stores, not in coffeehouses.

I'm lucky enough to live in a town with a couple independent coffee bars which still have an emphasis on quality. My fave coffee bar is really terrific; the owner sacrifices a lot of profit to maintain the quality of the place. Anywho, one of my friends, also a regular there, has a (I believe homemade) bumper sticker, "Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks." Three cheers for coffee snobbery.

That's already been for sale in Louisiana for weeks if not months. Combining the two necessities of a functioning alcoholic - liquor and caffeine. Well, at least a coffee-like taste. A former employer of mine used to get ripped on tallboys of Busch and then brew up about 5 pots of Community Coffee to help, er, speed along the buzz. I think. God, I love Louisiana.
