There's no place like home.

Posted by apostropher

Ah, finally home after four days of sleeping (sort of) in a vinyl recliner and eating hospital cafeteria food. The burrito monkey was a mere four pounds, thirteen ounces when we left, since all newborns lose weight at first. The doctors believe there may have been some issue with the umbilical cord that kept him from getting a full load of blood while he was indoors. Smallest baby I've ever held - very little fat anywhere on him - but with very, very long feet. Everything is functioning fine, he's eating well, all systems seem go.

Thanks for all the kind words in the comments from the last post. I got to use dial-up internet for the first time in ages while I was at the hospital and it was a painfully slow experience, so click the extended entry link below for pictures.

Wild ride, eh? Glad you all are safe, loud, er, I mean "sound" and warm. But I'd watch that feline; she looks up to no good.

I can't wait till Omicron Persei-8 gets bigger and there are Ultimate Fighting Championship-style matches between him and the cat. Congratulations again.

He is a good-looking little thing. Ours was only 5lbs. 5 oz. when we brought her home; preemie clothes were too big. They catch up in no time.

Great congratulations to you!

The big paws are a sign he'll be a bigun. Every new life is a new hope.

Congratulations! I'm glad the little guy's doing well. 2 years ago, when my son was born - labor had to be induced - then labor stalled after a couple of days - then mom started to develop a fever. They did an emergency C-section. And the little guy was 11 pounds 1 oz! Nobody had any idea he was that big.

Dave,

A newborn baby weighed eleven pounds one ounce!?

That would definitely be a 'keeper.'

Did somebody say enormous johnson? I won't go into what a john johnson is in las vegas.

I gotta say that the picture with the two sleeping cats and the sleeping baby is one of the cutest I've ever seen. Except for my own daughter's pictures ;)

You do realize that the pic with Noah and my "chain" kinda implies he's either gonna be a badass Machiavellian biker extraordinaire...or a raging homo who thinks his uncle is more profound than his pops.

...and of course now I'm trying to figure out which is more insulting...and to whom....

subnote:

Not sure which I think would be better for your socio-political outlook...;)

BTW...I love Noah...hope I'm a better uncle to him than I've been (thus far) to apostropher^2. Hell...I hope I'm a better uncle to both of them.

And if you're reading this, Jimmy (which I know you probably are...or should be), in my opinion, for the first 18 years of apostropher's life...you WERE his best friend; at least the one I appreciated most. Much love.

Does this mean I have to give up my membership in the DNC? Or should I say, 'membership?' ;-)

Jody, your family has a very special place in my life. I was gonna say I don't know who tortured his little bro more, me or Apos Sr., but I think I get that title. You should blame any problems you have, not that you have any, on your elder bro as Todd has blamed me. It's quick, convenient, and absolves you of maximum responsibility. Thanks for the kind words. I hope you are well.

A newborn baby weighed eleven pounds one ounce!?

I'm told that's exactly what I weighed when I was born, also with a C-Section. Although I think my parents are just messin with me 'cause I ended up so {ahem!} stout.
