If you're planning on smuggling 9000 hits of ecstasy into Thailand, make sure you've taken the time to read all of the local rules there.
A 35-year-old Briton smuggled 9,000 ecstasy tablets past eight customs officials in Thailand before being stopped on the street the next day and arrested for not wearing a shirt. "Shit happens," said Alan John Kiernan, who arrived in Thailand from Switzerland on Friday and made it through customs with the ecstasy haul -- worth 5 million baht (88,000 pounds) -- hidden in special panels sewn into his sweat pants. If found guilty, he could face the death penalty.
Wait a minute. Bangkok, the world sex trade capital, will arrest a guy for not wearing a shirt? That seems odd. Though if you look at this picture, and get a feel for just how much volume 9000 pills take up, don't you have to wonder: How fricking big were those sweat pants? Then down in the last sentence of the article, comes the next kicker. This Brit is smuggling giant amounts of ecstasy into Thailand, when Thailand is one of the biggest suppliers of ecstasy for Western Europe.
Bad idea no matter how you turn it. I'll bet Thai prison is a whole lot of fun for a white, middle-aged raver.
