Yep, I'm a Californian. I can almost hear the laughter coming from the rest of the country now.

Truthfully it was more a vote against Gray Davis than a vote for Arnold. Californians are so pissed off at Davis they'll use any available vehicle to get rid of him. Arnold just happened to be that vehicle.

I didn't vote for him. His platform was all cliches and absolutely no specifics. But I take some consolation in the fact that the LA Times and the Davis campaign folks have been bitch-slapped in a big big way for their mud slinging. Anyone who believes the timing of that "groping" story was pure coincidence has been living under a rock.

The fun and games are over for Arnold now. It worked in the campaign, but now he has to be more than a stand-up comic. He has to lead. And he has to lay out specifics. I will judge his performance objectively like I would anyone else.
